Gregory J. Rossmann, Venture Partner, joined Oak Investment Partners in 2016 and transitioned to Venture Partner in December 2018.
Prior to Oak, Greg formed the firm GJR Capital and notably lead the activist effort at Tellabs (TLAB) in partnership with Dialectic Capital, resulting in the dividend of significant amounts of balance sheet cash and ultimately the sale of the company to Marlin Equity Partners. Greg joined GJR Capital from the Carlyle Group, where he was a Managing Director with the Carlyle Growth Buyout fund, executing mid-market buyout transactions and growth equity investments in operating companies throughout North America. Greg’s primary areas of concentration lie in Hardware, Semiconductor, Wireless, Software, Business Services, and the defense technology sectors. Prior to The Carlyle Group, Greg was a Managing Director with Pequot Capital for IT growth equity investments. Supplementing areas of previous expertise, he also lead efforts in evaluating alternative energy and defense related technologies. Previously, Greg was a Managing Director at Broadview International where he managed the firm’s global M&A practice in Hardware, Semiconductor, and Communications Equipment, where he negotiated more than 55 transactions ranging in value from $ 25MM to over $ 3 Billion. Greg was also the Manager of New Business Development with Acterna Corporation. He also held product management and development engineering positions at Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. specializing in signal processing, storage and networking semiconductor devices.
Greg holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Cincinnati and an M.B.A. from the University of Santa Clara. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of NETGEAR (NTGR), Sleep Science Partners, Nexant, and cumulatively has served on over 25 Boards.
