David B. Black joined Oak in 1992 and serves as a Technology Partner. He served as the Chief Technology Officer for PaySys and is a Technical Advisor to a number of Oak portfolio companies that build or use software. David assists in evaluating investment opportunities and providing value added services to Oak portfolio companies. During his career, he spent decades writing code for network protocols, compilers, composition systems, operating systems, DBMS internals and applications, various hardware components and enterprise systems. A cum laude graduate from Harvard College in Applied Mathematics, David has extensive experience in hardware and software design across a myriad of technologies, platforms and languages, starting with ARPA-net protocol work prior to graduation.
